LA Rage Basketball History

The Los Angeles Rage Basketball Club is an AAU team founded in 2005 that is dedicated to helping local athletes to develop their skills and compete at an advanced level. The Rage Team enjoys the benefits of a fully sponsored organization which enables them to travel to top level National Tournaments as well as participating in the highly competitive AAU Nationals annually.

The first Rage team was originally known as the North Orange County Rage. The team was coached by Trevor Beal and Chris Encinas for the first two seasons. The Rage’s achieved a great success on its second trip to the AAU Nationals in Memphis TN where they earned 6th in the nation honors. The young men of that Team fondly remember how Coach Trevor was unhappy with the teams effort during one of the 1st games during bracket play even though they had won. Right after that game, during the hot, muggy summertime at mid-day, down by the mighty Mississippi River the Rage Team ran wind sprints for 30 minutes. To top it off, they had to interlock arms and walk through downtown Memphis singing “happy birthday”. It was just the right Team bonding experience that was needed to set the Team chemistry right for the rest of the tournament which eventually led to their great success.

The 3rd year and staff were equally successful under Coaches Josh Chiles and Chris Gash where the Rage finished 4th in Houston in the Platinum division and 1st place in the Vision Sports Easter Classic.

For the 2009 season, the Rage is fortunate to have some well regarded and experienced new coaches join the staff. In addition to these changes, the Rage has recruited several new talented players. The 2009 season is a tough schedule for the young Rage team playing at the 17 & under level however they are ready and willing to meet the challenge. Look for us and see what success the Rage will be able to accomplish this year!
